We have a topic of Christmas in this time. When starting the instruction, Jason asked us some representative objects which we could associate with Christmas, such as Christmas tree, stockings, gifts, mistletoe, candy cane, sparkling garlands, evergreen and so forth.
During the instruction, there is a question I want to know for a long time; I have the chance to ask for this time. That is, western people exchange or give gift on Christmas; however, Chinese people exchange or give red envelop - with money inside of it – in Chinese New Year. For western people, which one does foreigner prefer, gift or money? Jason responded me that for his own opinion, he likes both because we sometimes receive the gifts which we don’t really want, but if we get money, we can use it to buy something we want.
Thanks for Jason’s instruction, through Jason’s instruction of Christmas, I have a deeper understanding of the story and activities on Christmas. By the way, I found that there are some features alike Chinese, such as having a reunion, and making good wishes for the following year. I think whatever culture is, people might do these two things in their new year.
